I clipped Ljufur's underneck and underbelly when we were in AZ in the winter. He never shivvered or seemed unduly cold, but I think you have to make the best decision for your own horse according to how much he sweats, how much he's ridden, the climate / temps, and whether he'll be blanketed or not.
