Anna: I have a mare who came from Iceland with a bad hoof crack on one of her front hooves. I did everything I could to get rid of it: stapled it, had the farrier cut through it, keeping shoes on, tried stuff around the growth line to make it grow out. Nothing helped. Then a friend told me that it was likely a fungus. I then proceeded to slosh fungicide on the hoof whenever I thought of it. The crack grew out completely within eleven months. So why not try that - it's an easy thing to do. Anneliese
