I live in Colorado with my Icelandic. He has been here for two years now. The
first year I had so many problems with him adjusting to the heat. He developed
andydrosis over the first summer. His system just shut down and quit sweating.
This then caused ulcers than frequent colic.
This past year in March I body clipped, put him on One AC, misters in his
stall for when temps were over 80. Guess what? He sweats now and had no
problems with the heat this summer.
This will be the plan for him while we live in dry hot Colorado. My other
Icelandic that was born here doesn't seem to show any problems with the heat.
