Its about a Greek Hermaphrodite who grew up as a girl until puberty when she developed into a boy. its fascinating. you feel a lot of compassion for her/him. There are apparently three places in the world where the hermaphrodite gene is found, and when people in those parts of the world intermarry and have children they can pass one gene each and then it happens.
