On another list I'm on, those are fighting words, but ... how many of you
are able to ride barefoot always and who feels they need to shoe?

All of our endurance horses are shod because of rocky terrain. We never
needed to shoe the Welsh ponies because they rarely left the arena, and the
good old pony Gypsy that raised our daughters had shoes only one summer
when they simply rode her until she couldn't be barefoot

When Bev and husband return from Hawaii, I'll ride Tosca a couple of times
in a lesson format, then she's all mine . She would never need shoes for
what Stephanie will do with her, but I am on a mission to make her a really
solid citizen before she goes on to her career as a therapy horse. For one
thing, there are a couple of grandaughters who will probably be thrilled to
have a chance to keep her fit.
