And, while not a problem I've seen with Icelandic's, but some horses have been breed without regard to the quality of their feet, and thus have very difficult feet. In our area, we see a lot of TBs with really awful feet - shelly, weak, lots of flares and chips. It doesn't seem to matter what they are fed either. I haven't owned one, so I can't comment first hand, but if someone tells me that one of that type NEEDS shoes, I could probably believe it.
