that does look like rather a lot, in that picture.

that said, i did just see gudmar petursson at equine affaire, riding on
a loose rein with a d-ring snaffle.  is he less "icelander" than someone
riding with more contact?

and *that* said, stjarni has recently been informing me (by going into
the center of the ring and moving only laterally when asked to go on the 
rail) that he would *prefer* more contact than i (an on-the-buckle rider
by default) give him by default.  (i ride in a full-cheek french-link
snaffle).  i can ride him in a halter and he's okay, but if ridden with
too little contact in schooling, he becomes quite resistant until i take
up the reins.  if i increase contact to, well, actual *contact*, he is
fine and happy again.

i've never been to iceland.
