PAINTING trim? No way!!!!!!!!! I am finishing the trim, piece by piece by
first sanding, then applying three coats of Tung Oil with a sanding
in-between. I love natural woodwork and will do just about everything to
avoid paint.
When we bought our old house in Evanston about 35 years ago someone had
thought it was fashionable to paint woodwork and they had slathered three
different colors on it. I stripped all of it and dug out very beautiful oak
woodwork and refinished it with Tung Oil. It is still beautiful.
It would be probably easier to just paint it and I am getting tired of the
job - it is so much it is going on forever - but I am keeping at it (I am a
Kraut, after all, hahaha). I just regret that I have no time to ride. But
that too will pass and then we will live here in the country happily ever
after and will have plenty of time for the horses.
