Horses opening their mouths: Hunter, not an Icelandic, but a TWH, does all sorts of weird things with his mouth. I tried the snaffle bit I have always preferred and a kimberwick, but he fussed and fumed and could "run through" the snaffle. Finally, I tried the S-hack that many endurance riders use. He loves it, but even bitless, he does goofy things with his mouth.
Just a couple of months ago, I realized he is missing a piece out of the side/tip of his tongue and has a long scar running up his tongue. Do you suppose he was trying to tell me something? Nancy
