I don't know what it's called. We got it at the local tractor supply store. No the horses can't get get it open. You have to rock the vertical bar back and pull the gate forward. I like it way better than our chain. I'll try to get a better picture tomorrow if it's not raining again. -- Anna Southern Ohio
