oh gosh she is playing! Trying you, to see if you will be scared. I
read somewhere that a young horse will do that every single day to the
older horses, and that as babies they are tolerated a great deal but
as they get older the dominant herd members put it in its place. But
you cant ever act scared! nasi would gallop straight at me, looking
me right in the eye, and as he got about ten feet away I would throw
my arms high and screech as loud as I could and then I would have to
laugh cause he would almost throw hisself down skidding away haha. I
think its something they do with each other as youngsters, a game. I
was never afraid of him and just laughed at him, and he ALWAYS backed
off when i called his bluff. but any time i got seriously mad at him
oh my he would flee and act so contrite, just gaze at me woefully.
One time he ran and clipped me, knocking me down, when he was about a
yearling, I came up off the ground screaming and threw the bucket I
had in my hand at him and it clattered across the ground. He
scampered off and I went to catch him with the lead and he stood there
licking his lips and looking at me like holey moley I have done it
now. But he is so smart... he clipped me because he started mugging
for the bucket in my hand and without thinking I swatted him with a
rolled up newspaper, like a dog or something. He was so amazed I
would treat him like that he waited til I got far enough ahead that he
could gallop up on me and knocked me down! amazing haha. He doesnt
seem to even consider deliberately being disrespectful like that since
he's grown now... but you cant let them call your bluff when they are
being brave little brats :)
