But Ljufur was a fairly tall horse, wasn't he? How long was his back, relative to most Icelandic's - longer than some? Extremely short? Not only does that saddle appear high in front on him, which would tip the rider back, it looks to me like the panels would extend onto his loins. That would be a double-whammy, to throw the rider's weight too far back, onto his loins. This subject was just up on the treelesssaddles list. Do you have a picture of a horse's skeleton on your website, Judy? A lot of folks on the treeless list were surprised to see how far forward the horse's last rib is at his spine area.
