a wonderbit is used with a curb strap, and the way it is configured the curb strap does not rest in the normal place, but higher up. its very weird! i believe a wonderbit could make a horse of any breed rack because it makes the head so high. I actually started stonewall in one. I was told to. I was actually told it was a mild bit. he carried his head so high his poll was only inches from my face. I thought that was normal, that he was high headed. people would say "oh my, he is high headed!" and I would think that was the way he WAS. and he would gait faster and FASTER and head would go higher and HIGHER and then he would just go wham wham into a hard pace and I would slow him and he would go back in gait. I thought that was because he was young and "not yet set in his gaits" as people would say. Then people would say "he is gonna bust you in the face, put a tie down on him" So I put a tie down on him and he turned into one of those fire breathing behind the vertical racking fire breathing maniacs. He is the only horse I have ever seen that can saddle rack sideways as fast as he can in a straight line.
So I sent his pic in to Lee and she told me "get that(*^*&^*&^% bit off him!" and she explained it was forcing his head high and causing him to ventroflex and eweing his neck and provoking "a level of high excitement". She said to put a mullen mouth pelham on him or Lil Missoula grazing curb. The difference was amazing, almost miraculous. His head went RIGHT down and his excitement level went with it so he became rideable. His gait became, oh my gosh, just the most awesome thrill ride. like a magic carpet just flying zeeeeeeeee he is so fun to ride. But I am having huge problems with him at the moment with him being a sweet soft angel with horses and situations he knows and then turning into a maniac with no confidence with a lot of new horses around etc. I just pray he mellows with age, I love him so much, he is my first baby.
