Yeah, I think there's quite a niche for these "ruined" horses. We still have a few left that need ruining. :) I've gotten really interested in the Parelli "Success" series of videos. Cary got me the "Impulsion" video from the series for Christmas. I watched it yesterday. Pat works with one of his young horses probably a QH, and that mare is WIRED! He uses the word "goey" about her and you can tell that the hot horses are the ones that he loves best. Sheesh, all a person has to do with that mare is look at her and she canters off. I think about the use of the word "goey" in conjunction with Icelandic's when I see a horse like that and I just shake my head. I have never seen an Icelandic so wired...and I'm not complaining. Sure, there is a range of energy levels in this breed, but I've never seen a really hot Icelandic...not by a long shot. The video is about "impulsion", and he uses her to point out that "impulsive" is not the same thing as "impulsion." It's a really good video - gave me lots to think about. For those of us mostly exposed to Icelandic's these days, it's nice to see a REALLY "goey" horse for a change, just to keep things in perspective!
