Come on folks! Someone take a shot, please! I've seen them, and I typically
comment on the "what gait" pictures, so someone else speak up - pleeease?!!

Ok, I'll appeal to your "civic duty" for the breed. There are people breeding
Icelandic's who think that every Icelandic who trots in the field will
magically "tolt" under saddle. Then, we end up with three-gaited (or virtually
so) horses who are sent to "tolt training" and FORCED to tolt, a la mechanical
means, with harsh riding...and thus we get bolters and buckers in this sooo
very sweet breed.

How do you recognize the difference between a naturally gaited horse who trots
in the field (sometimes, or even most of the time) and a truly three-gaited
horse? What can we do to help breeders learn the difference? Obviously, I'm
on a roll this morning about rehabs/stray dogs/homeless/unwanted animals...and
I doubt seriously that Solon will ever be a rehab, not as long as Wanda has
breath. :) But what about the other horses out there...?

I have an opinion on Solon's gaitedness, but I'd like to hear the opinions of a
few others!
