>>>> I also had trouble mounting and dismounting, even with a step stool I
had carted out to the riding ring.

I had a little trouble mounting and dismounting with a treeless saddle the
first few times. However, all it took was an adjustment in how I mount,
plus being on guard that I not depend on my stirrups more than I should.
I'm no 16-year-old gymnast, believe me, so if I can adapt, I feel sure about
anyone can. My first treeless saddles were BMSS, so by the time I got my
Sensation, I had no trouble mounting them at all. Kaaren Jordan has an
article on mounting on her website, reprinted from Christine Schwartz's
book. I think it was written for mounting any saddle, treed or treeless,
but I found out that I could ignore some riding faults in a treed saddle
that I couldn't ignore in a treeless. :) (Rumor has it that Christine can
mount a saddle with no girth at all...)

>>>I think with the floppy Stephanie, saddle slippage could be a huge
problem.

Are you going to be able to find a single saddle to fit all of your needs,
including Tosca's? I don't know much about handicapped riding, but that
seems like quite a laundry list of needs to meet with one saddle. Have you
thought more about having a lift built to assist her mounting, or a long
ramp? Will Stephanie's disability allow her to ever ride without a
side-walker?
