I agree. And the temperment of the one I owned was closer to that of an Arab than that of a "child's pony". The other thing they're doing in the US is breeding for a sports pony, crossing Welsh and Thoroughbred. They're absolutely lovely, but generalizing here, I wouldn't put a beginner rider up on a TB.
