My parents immigrated here in the 1950's as indentured servents after being torn from their families during WWII. My mother was 18 and was made to work at an Austrian farm as slave labor. My dad was 'recruited' by the Russian army, shortly after that his younger brother was recruited by the German army. They came here with the clothes on their back and one dollar, neither spoke english. I thank God daily that they had the courage to come here so that my 4 sisters and I had opportunities that we would have never had in the Ukraine.
