Maryland has been experiencing some uniquely warm weather as of late
and I have had great trail riding days, forgetting it is still
winter? I trailered myself and some friends to Fort Meade and was out
for aabout 4 hours, had a marvelous ride, one of my friends took her
horse for the first time off any of his familiar grounds to go on
this ride and he had a blast playing leap frog, so he would trot on
command and ease or transition back down to walk after asking him to
pass the other horses, within 10 minutes, they were all doing this
with just dropping the reins to give them the go forward cue, and off
they went to the front of the line. It was so nice to see them and
sense something coming up from behind in a faster gate than they are
in without trying to pick up there own speed in response of the
passer, it was great fun. Also have to mention that while I was out,
one of my friends rides this big beautiful flashy black and white
paint, who everyone stops and asks about, didn't get a single mention
at the ride by passers by, only my icelandic did, he was accused of
being a fjord, a foreigner, which he is domestic bred, and a flying
pony that you see at the expos while we went by a group of ladies, my
guy was tolting and they must have recognized the movement with the
looks. I was so surprised but it goes to show how much popularity
these guys have brought to this country and that they are recognized
by non horsey people. Jeannette
