she is my "Momma" chicken :) You know chickens are all the same really, then now and then one comes along that is so special you start feeling warm thoughts for them. She is the best little momma you have EVER seen. I have never been able to find a nest. ANd I see her almost every day so I dont know WHEN she is nesting, she must cover the eggs with dirt or something while she goes to eat or something. But then one day she will appear with a batch of little chicks and I will see the cats stalking her, so I know I have to catch her up and put her and the chicks in a pen. Oh my gosh you oughta see the fight. She will fight to the death for those chicks!! I have to catch her first and get her off them before i can get anywhere near the chicks:) Then she will get them all up under her and if you pick her up the chicks will stay she has then all snugged up so tight in her wings. I really like her tho i hate to, seems the ones I really like something happens to them! Janice -- courage is being scared to death...and saddling up anyway--John Wayne
