A very VERY long time ago I rode a few Western horses. I don't know what they are doing today, but then these horses were asked to jog, to trot and to extend the trot. The good ones had lovely trots at each speed. I switched to riding English about 40 years ago and rode dressage horses that did a working trot, extended trot and collected trot. With an athletic well-balanced horse, you could sit all three. The collected trot is NOT a jog. Nancy
