>From SCA: Join us for three fun-filled days and two nights of revelry under the stars, to celebrate the beginning of Starkhafn's 29th year. This year's festivities are so lavish, we've added an extra day to the year to accommodate everything!
Good news for travelers: We've arranged for you to enjoy Starkhafn hospitality without Starkhafn traffic! The event will take place at Petrack Park and McCullough Arena, both located at 150 North Highway 160 in Pahrump, NV 89060. The site opens at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 29, and closes at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2008. Competitions and Championships: Test your strength and skill in an array of martial arts competitions. Saturday's competitions will determine Her Excellency's new champions in heavy combat, rapier, archery, thrown weapons, youth combat, and boffers. On Sunday, equestrians will compete for the honor of being Her Excellency's equestrian champion. Arts and Sciences: The Baronial A&S Champion will be determined on Saturday, so bring your static and performing arts entries to be judged. Then gather around the fires on Friday and Saturday evenings for the traditional Starkhafn bardics. Camping: Petrack Park offers a variety of amenities, including shady camping sites under the trees, stone privies, electrical hook-ups, and hot showers. There are grocery stores and restaurants within walking distance. For guests who desire more formal accommodations, there are plenty of casino hotels within a few minutes of the park. Equestrian Accommodations: Spacious stock pens are available at no charge, and there's plenty of trailer parking. A warm-up arena is available, and the site opens onto miles of desert trail riding. Site Fees: Admission for the weekend is $15.00 for adults with proof of membership; adult non-members will be charged a $3.00 surcharge. Youth aged 6-14 years will be charged $7.00; youth aged 5 and under are guests of the Barony. There is a family cap of $35.00 for the weekend (immediate family only). Directions to the Site: From the South, take your best route to Interstate 15 North. At Baker, take the Kelbaker Road exit onto CA-127 heading north. Follow this for approximately 56 miles. At Shoshone, turn right onto CA-178. Follow this for approximately 19 miles, at which point you will have entered Nevada, and the road will become NV-372. In another 6 miles, look for Blagg Road, and turn left. In approximately 1 mile, turn right onto W. Basin Avenue. Go approximately 1 mile, and turn left onto NV-160. The site will be approximately 0.6 mile further on your right.
