Dear everyone, I am so happy today. Ofeig has been walked 1/2 mile up to the paddock we are loaned. It was very windy. She spooked only slightly at a pigeon and flapping cardboard. She calmed immediately. She calmly stood and looked at basil as he trotted up the road with Jean riding him. Yesterday she bolted in my paddock when I was fastenning the gate behind us (lucky we were inside and safe). I let go the rope but she went only about ten yards and turned around when I called her. Seeing the rope on the ground she stood there as if ground tied until I fetched her with C/R for standing still. The reason for bolting was that Corrie was getting to the stable ahead of her and was going to eat her food. She then walked slowly to the stable at my side. Horses make mistakes sometimes and learn from them. I'm having great success with my parrot. He bows on cue and we have started target training. He cuddles and kisses like crazy now. He is fully flighted in the house but it would be nice to think that eventually he could be free flighted outdoors. I think clicker training could be a route to that goal. In fact I am thinking of doing a course with an aim to helping others who have problem parrots. I thought about it before he went 'atypical' but I obviously had a lot to learn and still do. Sue UK
