two very cool shows are on discovery channel this week! One is about some viking guy's grave they dug up and it had his icelandic horses in it with him and the grave had been dug up and thing stolen but the horse bones were put back and arranged as if deferentially. The other is about thoroughbred race horses and what they are doing now to enhance performance. One thing is they showed a horse that would always be way ahead of the rest and at the end just before the race was over she would always lose stem and come in last. They had her gallop on a treadmill with a scope down her throat and saw mucus collect in her throat as she ran until she could not breathe hard enough anymore to sustain speed. Then they gave her some sort of antihistamine and did it and she was ok and then she started winning races. It said they are doing all kinds of high tech stuff to make thoroughbreds break all historical speed records every year and I thought oh wow it wont be long before they'll be breaking legs every race or something!! Why cant we just let them be natural and if they dont win, buy another orse instead of bio-engineering them! anyway, i digress. these are good shows! Janice
