first let sylvia give the foal from a bottle so it get´s stronger. even repeat couple of times. then put the mare in a stall and hold her and help the foal to nurse and reward the mare each time she´s doing right. I think the problem will be over after few day´s but the foal need´s to nurse real often at least 1 time each hour and don´t let the mare be alone with the foal .put the foal in the stall beside her´s so the foal is the only "horse" she see theese day´s. don´t let them be togheter with other horses the next week or so. hope this works out ,it happened her on a farm not so far from here last year and then with a 20 yo mare that had have many foals before. and it worked out by this recipe also chech if the foal nurse right not hurting the mare.... and if you have been breast feeding yourself you now how it can hurt the first couple of day´s when your boob´s are full of milk and hard so why should it be any diffirent with our mare´s?!
