This weekend I I hung my "car wash/waterfall" using a shredded tarp - pictures by tomorrow. I am constructing my bridge and getting the tractor trailer tire to fill with dirt - I figure this will serve as training for 2 obstacles, the bank and the pedestal. One obstacle that messed up a lot of horses at the Trial I went to is very simple to construct. There were 2 cross rails on the ground(you could use straight tree limbs about 6 " around), parallel to each other about 3 -4 feet apart. In the middle was laid evergreen boughs, no higher than the cross rails (2-3"). The horses just had to either walk over, or through or jump this. Just beyond this was a pile of brush about 2 feet high (very loose) that they had to walk through. I thought the high pile would get them but it was the low one that every horse was wary of. I'll try to construct that and get some pics - there was something about it that the horses just didn't see right. This weekend we also worked on being able to take a raincoat off of a post (while mounted), put it on, take it off, put it back on the post. We also worked on opening and closing gates from horse back. We also worked on carrying a basket from one post to another. I need to find some barrels. When I have someone else here, I'll try to get pics. I think Mura is going to be the Trail Trial star - she just isn't bothered by anything. -- Laree in NC Doppa & Mura Simon, Sadie and Sam (the "S" gang) "Yet when all the books have been read and reread, it boils down to the horse, his human companion, and what goes on between them." - William Farley
