...and my job. I finally got Fjóla shod on Tuesday evening and planned to go
riding on Wednesday (the first real ride in Fjóla's new Sensation). On Tuesday
it was extremely beautiful weather, the sun was shining and the temperature was
just below freezing point. Not on Wednesday... We had a nice blizzard, the air
was full of snow and the wind was blowing so hard it was impossible to tell if
there was snow coming down or if it was just flying around. No riding. On
Thursday I was on call so my next plan was for Friday when I was supposed to
get off work at 16.00. That became about 19.30. Sigh. No riding.

So today I finally got Fjóla from paddock, brushed and saddled her and went
riding. I had about two hours to spend "horseing" including riding and cleaning
the stable (three horses, so it doesn't take too long). I think in the end
riding took about 20 minutes of that time, perhaps 9 minutes riding one
direction and 11 minutes leading the horse back. Snow adhered to Fjólas feet so
badly that she was all the time just sliding and slipping and had very hard
time balancing on the snowballs even when she was not slipping. Usually it's
not that bad if you oil the soles and keep riding fast enough but today it was
terrible. And Fjóla made it even worse being very sure herself that she's going
to fall, so every time she slipped she started fussing and that of course made
her slip a few more times. Not much riding today either.
