Judy mentioned she had lots of gophers. We do too and my dog Kitchi hunts them and even eats them but unfortunately she only gets a few. We put up and owl box for barn owls as I read that they can consume 1000 gophers a year. The male feeds the female and babies in the box until they fledge. We see them around the box the end of January and the chicks have just hatched. You would never know she was there until they hatch. They leave in July and it is hilarious if you are lucky enough to see the first flights.
Unfortunately there does not seem to be a decrease in the gopher population here though. Ann Cassidy Bodega, CA
