I don't know, but some black horses just fade more, even if they don't have a parent with cream gene. ALL blacks fade here, but I think that's because of our long periods of strong sunshine...and some don't fade as strongly as others. I think I read that homozygous black horses may not fade as much as heterozygous blacks? I don't know that, and I really don't care too much. Landi is the only horse here that could possibly have a cream gene, since Sina is palomino, but he sheds out about as jet black as possible. I'm pretty sure he didn't get the cream gene. Djangi is pretty no matter what color he is. :) Karen Thomas, NC
