Hi Janice, >>>I dont have LTJs new book yet Robyn, is this where I would find the details of the body wrap? My only concern and maybe this is where it stems from... as a 15 month old he somehow got a tarp hung on his back foot and went nuts racing around. After that i worked hard on desensitizing him to most everything.
This would be a perfect exercise considering his past experience. The way we approach problems is to just keep breaking them down into smaller pieces to keep making it easier so it is not about desensitization because I don't want a horse to be insensitive - as in not feeling - but rather to accept and be comfortable with things. That means the pulse and respiration stays low and the posture is relaxed - not in a 'head down' position but because the horse is really accepting it. Linda's Behavior book is like the TTEAM encyclopedia and addresses all aspects of how to do the TTEAM work but also has what to do for specific issues you might be having. Neck line driving would be very helpful for him. I have worked with so many horses that are terrified of things behind them and had great success. Judy put the article about neck line driving on her website I think because you won't find this approach anywhere else. We know we are weird, but it works for us : )). Robyn
