I'm cross-posting this with permission from Lucy, a long-time member of the treelesssaddles list, about her recent 100-mile ride in a Sensation Hybrid:
Roo and I did our first 100 miler this weekend at Patriot, in NE California. The ride was deceptive - only a few significant climbs, but the elevation gain ended up being over 10,000'. It was unexpectedly warm - temps in the mid-90s at the hottest, so we took it really slowly and grazed a lot on the trail - ending finishing the ride in 23 hours at 4:30 am. Roo wore his Sensation Hybrid, with a wool-bottomed Skito that was padded with firm-foam 3/4" shims (extra shimming along the spine), a 1/4" layer of felt and my home-made plastic sheet on the top to distribute weight. I had my stirrups on both the stirrup hanger and the hard-use attachment. Oh, and I used a Wintec waffle cinch - with no trim and the buckles high enough to stay out of his armpits - no rubbing at all - yay! Oh, and I had a sheepskin over the saddle for me to sit on. His back had no soreness whatsoever, despite the long ride, but I did notice some thickened spots the next day right where the stirrups hang - they weren't sore, however. I have never felt better during a ride, so was very happy and in good shape at the end. Because of the thickened spots, however, I am going to experiment with just using the hard-use attachments. Not sure if my legs are long enough, though. Have to get some straps and see. Overall, I was super-happy. And the funny thing is, I ended up riding much of the last 40 miles with another rider who was also in a Sensation Trail saddle :)
