I don't know if anyone has answered this yet but I'll give it a shot.
First - I do not like daily dewormers (added to the food) because I
believe it's like putting poison in your horse every day and also,
because the daily dewormers have an ingedient/s that promote weight
gain (other than the dewormer), something we don't need in Icelandics.
 I am going to ask for a good microscope for Xmas this year so I can
check fecal counts myself and deworm only when there is a need.  While
I do think that most of the dewormers on the market are very safe, I
just don't like giving what isn't needed - I think you pay for it
somewhere down the road.  All that being said, I continue (until I get
my microscope) to worm on an every 2-3 month cycle with paste
dewaormer.
