Because of the bad fit, sometimes they are used to force gait because they cause the horse to ventroflex due to discomfort. Treeless saddles are becoming more popular with the Icelandics because they can comfortably fit a wide variety of back shapes. Personally, I'd toss the icelandic saddle, and use treeless.
