There's also a thing clicker training people do I always thought would be worth trying. I'm not sure exactly how to work it for pulsing down, but you reward the animal for doing the right behavior (relaxing and pulsing down in this case), when it does. Then you introduce the clicker into the mix. Any of you clicker trainers think it might be possible to teach a horse to relax to the degree that his heart rate would slow with clicker training? I'm still working with the ear touches. Hunter has learned to think it's pretty special, but I haven't tested to see if it actually allows his heart rate to slow. Nancy
