It's a rare day when I get a chance to ride with another gaited horse and my Arab friends did used to complain about the gait gap. If Hunter was walking real fast, then their horses wanted to jig. Over the sevreal years I've had him all this has worked out. He has learned that sometimes we walk very slowly on a relaxed rein. Sometimes we trot really big. Sometimes, like yesterday, something clicks and we can go side by side with the Arab trotting and Hunter gaiting. And sometimes, we just go out alone and the guy gets to blow out all the stops and walk just as fast as he can. I always come back with an ear to ear grin. I really haven't noticed that adjusting his pace to match the other breeds has messed with his ability to gait at all. It has become the price of riding with friends here in non-gait land. Nancy
