I take it that is Hunter to the right?

Yes. Hunter is on the right with the red headstall. Horse on the left is
our daughter Abby's Anglo Arab Meridian, a Seattle Slew grandaughter, and
the horse down the road is an Arab, Shur Fire, our friend Bev's good
endurance horse.

That is an especially rocky section of access road to the lookout. I would
guess the gravel was hauled in to make it easier to get up there in bad
weather. In the miles we rode today, we probably had 18 miles of old
un-graveled roads and single track trails and the balance in sections with
either applied gravel or natural rock. Some of out friends have
experimented with barefoot/boots but the trails really don't make it easy.
Both Terry Tinkham and Sue Walz put lots of miles on barefoot/booted horses
(both gaited horses). Sue will be taking Raven to Tevis again this year.
She was pulled for lameness very near the finish last year. This Tevis she
will be carrying the ashes of her father Bob Walz, the man who originally
developed Easy Ride stirrups.
