I meant to say the *changes*. I don't really have time to guess when
something changes.

That's why there is a file called "ChangeLog" and the docs contain the
latest changes too.
http://docs.icinga.org/icinga2/latest/doc/module/icinga2/chapter/about-icinga2#whats-new

Blog posts and release announcements also contain the Changelog as a
service to the reader. Not sure where you expect such changes (?).

Perhaps it did get sent to the mailing list (one
reason why I'm subscribed) and I just missed it. If not, it would be
nice to have a changelog sent to the mailing list so I (am I the only
one?) can be notified before I break my servers with an update.

Just my 2 cents.

There is an announce mailinglist for anyone interested in following
releases and other announcements.
https://lists.icinga.org/mailman/listinfo/icinga-announce

If you don't like yet another mailinglist, look for the blog rss feed,
twitter, facebook, etc on https://www.icinga.org/community/

We push release announcements nearly everywhere. If you have the feeling
that it's not enough, join the team and help make Icinga better :)

In any case I just grepped the new config files an imitated that config
syntax and it's working again.

Next time, please provide some details on your system, how icinga2 was
installed, the output from 'icinga2 --version' and the config object
causing the error. It will help everyone following here to understand
what you're doing or trying to do.

Regards,
Michael

Thanks,

Simon

PS
brackets are required like so: command = [something]

What is the new syntax? Please point me to the docs/changes etc.
You'll find all the details in the documentation, for example here:
