We have tried to configure it with excludes (which you wrote are no
option), neither seems inheritance to work (define a timeperiod A
mon-fri and then import this on a timeperiod B just defining
2014-12-25 with time 00:00-00:00).

Someone else already created one though: https://dev.icinga.org/issues/7355
Feel free to comment on it then.
My collegue did that yesterday. ;-)
We use that feature mainly for holidays. It is a simple config in most
cases. E.g.:
define timeperiod{
timeperiod_name abwesend_dveba
alias Abwesenheiten EB
2014-07-19 17:00-24:00
2014-07-20 - 2014-08-04 00:00-24:00
2014-08-05 00:00-08:00
}
That's fine, I understand the issue. I just don't have an estimation yet
on the impact & required ressources for implementing such a feature.
Once we have we may comment on the issue (same on the pending ones
opened during our Icinga Camp and vacation weeks lately).
Kind regards,
Michael
