Thanks for your answers. It is the first time I understand now what the
Reaper exactly is and what he does.

We do have some performance issues at the moment and we are thinking
about replacing our core, but we are not sure yet where to go. Further,
I really want to understand the current problem (where is the
bottleneck?) before choosing another software. That's why I have some
more questions about Icinga 1 (I will start new threads).
