Hi.
Is it possible to get Icinga to alert in either of the following situations:
1. The check value is lower than the previous check value.
I'm looking for a way to monitor something which is assumed to steadily
increase (maybe stay the same between checks, but not go down) and I want an
alert if the check value is less than the previously-measured value.
I guess there would be situations where "higher than" would also be useful.
2. The rate at which something has been increasing over recent checks
indicates that it will cross a certain threshold within a certain amount of
time.
I'm thinking here about something like disk space. If I have a 2Tbyte disk,
and it gets 85% full, I don't necessarily care, unless that remaining 15%
looks like it'll get used up rather quickly.
So, I want to be notified not simply because disk usage has crossed some
arbitrary threshold (eg: 85%), but because it's gone from 75% to 85% in the
past 24 hours, and therefore it's likely to reach 100% in the next 24-48
hours.
100% is what I'm really interested in, and if it's going to take 2 months to
get there, it doesn't matter if I was using 84% ten minutes ago, and I'm using
85% now.
On the other hand, I do care if the rate of increase suggests I'm going to run
out within the next X days/hours/minutes/whatever.
So, can I create an alert which goes off if the predicted value will be N
within the next X time units, no matter what the value is right now?
Thanks,
Antony.
