Hi all mailing list leftovers,

I promise to move to the community portal ? - but before I do, I must admit
that the upgrade from 2.10 to 2.11 gave me a lot of grey hairs and took all day
yesterday to try and fix. And this morning I succeeded.

I really, really do love Icinga 2 but the concept of configuring the system is
one of the most difficult things to grasp and has quite a steep learning curve.
Been using Icinga 2 for some years and the core of this configuration has made
me fully reconfigure and rebuild my installation three times all together. Not
long ago I reconfigured to the zone.d-style config with one master zone and
client zones below (I must admit I am not fully sure what the version is
called). My main requirement was that the master has all the config files and
sync them with the clients and that it is easy to define if a certain check is
performed on the master or locally on the client.

I followed the documentation line by line so I was a bit frustrated when the
upgrade gave me so much trouble and the aforementioned "Check command does not
exist". I had done (to my knowledge) all things according to documentation, so
why did it break? And also it was only a few check commands that gave the
issue. Most of the checks did work as they should.

So, to make a long story short, in my case it was some left-over configuration
on the clients that made all the trouble. The simple fix was:

cd /var/lib/icinga2/api/zones

rm -fr *

icinga2 daemon -C

service icinga2 restart

Now everything is working as before...

Good luck with the upgrade!

Best regards,

Kasper L?vschall

Okay, I've done that, and I've found a couple of postings which talk about

2.10.5 -> 2.11, but they don't seem relevant to my questions:

https://community.icinga.com/t/2325

https://community.icinga.com/t/2280

Could someone give me a pointer to where I can find the rest of the 2.10 ->

2.11 discussions, so I can solve my problems and understand how best to

maintain my setup?

Excellent - I've enabled it :)

Thanks,

Antony.
