Here is what I am attempting to do. I currently have the following in my data centers.
Data center1: ldap server - icinga.local.pvt domain server1: mysql database only icinga1: central server with icinga/ icinga-web/ icinga-core, idoutils (connecting remotely to server1), nsca and LConf. Data center2: server1: distributed server, icinga-core with nsca_send only. My attempt is to make sure that I am able to create the configuration in LDAP using LConf, and then export the configuration using LConfSlaveExport.pl - However, before I even get that far, which sounds like it is doable, I need to understand the whole LConf methods. I have attached my current configuration, which is working fine but it needs work. For example: - Why is that when I place the commands, services, contacts and contactgroups under the "OU=Templates", they are not inherited or exported to *.cfg? Do I need to have an OU=Templates for each of the Icinga/Data center distributed servers? - With the setup above, what is the best recommended practice? I feel that I am missing some very big topics here but it seems the documentation only gets me so far. Any thoughts or suggestions would be very much welcomed. I'm trying to setup the simple Central -> Distributed server mechanism to work so I can show off Icinga to my colleagues for production use :) Thanks, Will
