[icinga-users] Questions about ICINGA

Hi,

I am evaluating an NMS to be used for monitoring our devices. I seek your
help to see if ICINGA will be a good fit for my requirements. My questions
are as follows:

   1. We intend to enable SNMP on our embedded devices using net-snmp and
   use an NMS to monitor those devices. Polling for data at various intervals,
   receiving snmp traps and logging appropriate messages is what is planned.
   Is there a better way to monitor these devices?
   2. Are there any known instances where the above has been achieved using
   ICINGA? Can you please share your experiences - best practices and
   avoidable pitfalls?
   3. Our embedded devices are expected to be behind firewalls at the
   customer locations. Any suggestions on the best way to handle these
   scenarios?

Any information regarding the above will be highly appreciated.
