hi,

as you might have read, icinga web now uses an internal doctrine db
layer, and the icinga-api being a php abstraction layer written in php,
discontinues development. at least from icinga development team's point
of view on the resource plans. if you are currently using it, and/or
patching it, feel free to get in touch and maintain it any further. it's
absolutely no problem to grant access to our development structures to
keep this project alive.

the changes for 1.6.0 will reflect the following

* remove the git submodule, so git submodule init will only catch
docbook for now
* release tarball won't contain module/icinga-api files anymore, but a
README over there
* Changelog reflects that change, especially for packagers
* make install-api as well as configure targets will tell that too
* the provided icinga.spec (which is the one for repoforge) removes that
package too, so no future rpms on icinga-api will be provided into
upstream for now.

make sure to read the
changelogshttps://wiki.icinga.org/display/Dev/Icinga+Core+Changelog

current git tree in r1.6 already shows that. please help test and report
bugs immediately, as the icinga release 1.6.0 is planned for 30.11.2011
during OSMC in Nuremberg. next wekk it's beta time too :)

kind regards,
michael
