We've switched to using naggen to generate our files instead of just exported resources - we've taken a huge load off of our nagios/icinga server.
You can check out our configs here - big highlights are in manifests/nagios.pp decommissioned_servers (how we remove servers and keep them from readding themselves), manifests/misc/icinga.pp (all our icinga setup) and files/puppet/naggen (it's put on the puppetmaster via manifests/puppetmaster.pp) https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/gitweb?p=operations/puppet.git;a=tree You can also just pull the repo here - git clone https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/p/operations/puppet Hope this helps!
