I have made some progress on this issue. I did a restart of the Apache server,
and the left pane did appear populated with a Repository list. I then tried to
do a preview and generate a report, but the following error message appeared
with bot tasks:

Request failed
The server encountered an error: Internal Exception, check your logs!
I checked the debug, and icinga-web log, and the following entry was seen in
both files:

[Tue Jun 12 08:26:43 2012] [fatal] Uncaught AppKitPHPError: PHP Error mkdir():
Permission denied
(/usr/share/icinga-web/app/modules/Reporting/models/ReportUserFileModel.class.php:61)

(/usr/share/icinga-web/app/modules/AppKit/lib/logging/AppKitExceptionHandler.class.php:37)

The permissions of the icinga-web folder are 755 with root:root user and group
owners. These permissions and owners are the rule for all subfolders. The file
in question, as well as the ../app/config.php file have the same owners with
the 644 permission set. Should the ownership of the icinga-web folder be given
to the icinga:icinga user and group, or is there something else that needs to
be done here?

Subject: [icinga-users] Reporting problem in icinga-web

Hello --

We have an Icinga 1.6.1 system running on a CentOS 6.2 32-bit distribution with
the Icinga-Web interface. All applications have been installed via
the yum application and rpm repositories. I am testing the Reporting cronk, and
I have discovered that whenever I select it, or any of the tabs that
are part of it, a popup window appears indicating a "Request Failed - The
server encountered an error:" message. However, there is no information
as to what is the nature of the error. The left part of the screen shows the
message "Loading Resource Tree" but nothing ever appears there.

I checked the debug log file and, the only entry that is repeatedly present in
the file is the following:

Mon Jun 11 14:41:20 2012] [debug] QUERY::CREATE Obtain doctrine connection:
icinga

The icinga-web log file had the following entry within it:

[Mon Jun 11 11:34:46 2012] [error] Auth.Dispatch: Delegate authentication, no
providers found for root (not_authoritative=internal)

I have also installed the jasperserver-reports utility on the system with its
bundled tomcat and postgresql servers. That system appears to be
working without issue.

Does anyone have an idea as to what is causing this?

Thanks.
