I'd really recommend to use ip addresses for your monitoring. Failure of
the DNS server itself is not the only reason the name resolution fails...

How do you solve the "DNS Problem"? What is best practice?

Well most installations I know use static addresses.

In some big setups with a CMDB or other import mechanisms it is quite handy
to resolve the address on generation of the config.
