Well, the current functionality is identical to nagios 3, so no 
modification is no loss of compatibility.

I understand your worries about changing code that just works, and if 
you think it will lead to confusion and unstable code, I'll retract my 
request.

I just thought it would be neat to add functionality there to help me 
identify more of a host's priority at a quick glance.
