Howdy!

I have Icinga 1.8 installed on Centos 6.3

I have hosts that are not pingable from the Icinga host. The
documentation
for 1.8 says

check_command

"This directive is used to specify the short name of the command that
should be used to check if the host is up or down. Typically, this command
would try and ping the host to see if it is "alive". The command must
return a status of OK (0) or Icinga will assume the host is down. If you
leave this argument blank, the host will not be actively checked...."

If I leave the check_command directive blank I get this error

Error: Host check command '(null)' specified for host 'live-web-4' is not
defined anywhere!

So, are the docs wrong, or how do I not do host checks and still do
service checks??

        thanx - steve
