The short answer is, likely, that you will need to make changes to the source-code for check_local_mrtgtraf and that's beyond the remit of the Icinga folks. The long answer is even worse. Measuring bits per second is a different animal than measuring bytes (or, more properly in comms terms, "octets") per second -- and it depends on what values your piece of comms gear is reporting in. Line speeds are commonly reported by humans as bit-rates; however, most of the comms gear I've seen reports in octets when being queried by SNMP (the most common mechanism, and one that MRTG uses extensively). Fortunately the difference is a matter of simple multiplication, but at that point you're into making changes to the source-code either on the data-gathering end of things or on the reporting side of things (do *not* do both).
